Żelazowa Wola

A picturesque vine-covered manor in Żelazowa Wola, the birth place of Fryderyk (Frédéric) Chopin, attracts music lovers from all over the world. Tourists come here to visit the brilliant composer’s museum and listen to a concert in the manor’s beautiful old park.

Żelazowa Wola is a small village on the Utrata river in the Mazowieckie Province. Fryderyk Chopin was born in 1810 in the left wing of an old manor outhouse. Over time, this ordinary building has turned into a symbol of Polishness and the most famous place of the Polish composer’s cult. At present, it houses a museum with portraits, memorabilia and authentic furniture. The atmosphere of a Polish 19th-century manor house brings you back to the great composer’s times.

In the year of the Jubilee, Chopin Year 2010, the renovated Żelazowa Wola manor becomes particularly significant as the venue of many important artistic events connected with the phenomenal composer.

The manor is surrounded by a beautiful park, with many ponds, an orangery and many tree and bush species from all over the world. In summertime, this delightful scenery becomes the venue of piano concerts. Nowhere else in the world does Chopin’s music sound like it does here.
