Warsaw Theatre Meetings

12.04.2011 Warsaw

Warsaw Theatre Meetings is one of the oldest theatre festivals in Poland, first held in 1965. Reactivated after an 8-year break in 2008, it has again become a grand celebration of Polish culture, widely acclaimed by audiences.

The festival's last edition in 2009 drew nearly 8000 theatregoers who attended 23 performances. Over 4500 attendees took part in 72 associated events (film screenings, panel discussions, meetings and concerts).

Warsaw Theatre Meetings are also a return to tradition, albeit in a new, multidimensional formula more suited to the standards and pace of artistic life in 21st century Warsaw. For two weeks, the city will once again become the centrepoint of Polish theatre, a place to share experiences and a playing field for both artists and theatre professionals as well as Warsaw's audiences to exchange opinions. The full festival programme includes productions performed not only on the capital's stages, but also in non-theatre venues.
