The Bedtime Show Museum

The Bedtime Show Museum

The Bedtime Show Museum in Rzeszów contains a collections of television cartoons and associated paraphernalia – shows which were watched by every child in socialist Poland. Adults return to memories of their childhood, while the kids can get to know the famous cartoon characters that entertained and fascinated their parents.

The museum's collection (consisting of approx. 2500 objects) has its roots in the personal childhood souvenirs of Wojciech Jama. These include toys related to the "bedtime shows" (short cartoons for children broadcast in the evening), original puppets appearing in the cartoons, games, posters, postcards, postage stamps, vinyl records, VHS tapes, magazines, comic books, as well as playing cards, puzzles, theatre programs, cinema posters and slide collections.
The museum's main attraction are the original puppets appearing in puppet show films – teddy bears such as Colargol and Drop Ear, Plastuś (similar to Gumby) and original filmstrips with frames from animated films like "Bolek i Lolek, "Reksio", "Porwanie Baltazara Gąbki".

The atmosphere of Socialist Poland is brought back through a number of rarities – packaging from treats which, at the time, were hard to come by, such as "Bolek i Lolek" bubblegum, "Maja", "Ptyś" and "Wilk i Zając" chocolate bars,  yoghurt, candy and even intact original products like "Jacek i Agatka" soap and baby oil or "Maja" artificial honey (over 40 years old!). There are also everyday objects like wall clocks, alarm clocks, trays, plates, mugs – all of them examples of merchandise tied to the bedtime story characters.
The Bedtime Show Museum is not only a trip through nostalgia, but also a place to put a smile on your face.
