The Arkady Fiedler Museum

The Museum of Arkady Fiedler – a traveller and writer, is located in an old villa in Puszczykowo, near Poznan. It is enough to visit the museum to feel the taste of great adventure among exotic exhibits collected during travels all around the world.

Arkady Fiedler (1894–1985) is an author of 32 books, most of them on the subject of travelling, that have been translated into 23 languages in an edition of over 10 million copies (among others “Kanada pachnąca żywicą” (Resin-Scented Canada), “The River of the Singing Fish”, “Spotkałem szczęśliwych Indian” (I Have Met Happy Indians). They bring the readers closer to exotic culture, customs, nature and delight them with colourful narration.

Original exhibits from all continents are displayed in the Museum, such as: ritual masks, human head trophies, tropical butterflies, crocodiles, as well as living predatory piranhas. Outside, in the Garden of Tolerance you can admire a unique in Europe collection of exotic monuments, for example an accurate copy of a statue from the Easter Island and monuments of Aztec gods. The actual size replica of a famous “Santa Maria”, the ship of Christopher Columbus, makes a huge impression.
At present, the replica of “Hurricane”, a fighter that played a significant role in the Battle of England (“Squadron 303”) is being built.
