July, Malbork

Malbork is one of the biggest medieval castles in Europe. Every July, a spectacular re-enactment of the Siege of Malbork Castle, based on historical facts, takes place in the castle courtyard.

Almost 600 years ago, after defeating the Teutonic Order knights in the victorious battle of Grunwald, king Jogaila (Władysław Jagiełło), commandant of the Polish and Lithuanian army, set off towards the stronghold of the Grand Masters. The siege lasted three months, but the armies had to back off.
