Rafał Olbiński

Rafał Olbiński (born 1943) - an architect by professional training, painter, poster artist, graphic designer, and illustrator. Has lived in New York since 1981. His illustrations regularly appear in the press, for example in 'Time', 'Newsweek', 'Der Spiegel', 'Business Week' and other newspapers and magazines. For many years he has been creating opera posters, including commissions for the New York City Opera. He lectures at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He is the maker of a well-known poster associated with the events of September 11, 2001. In 2009 Rafał Olbiński had a large museum exhibition at The Jule Collins Smith Museum in Auburn entitled “New Dreams of Old Values”. He has created a number of large murals for installations in public space in Europe as well as more than 100 opera images for CD covers for Allegro-Music’s Opera D’Oro Series.
