Rugby Theatre in England will be staging a Polish-English bi-lingual production of “Romeo and Juliet” as part of the Open Stages Project of the Royal Shakespeare Company.

The idea of creating bi-lingual versions of Shakespeare’s famous tragedy comes from its director Robert Sloan.
Sloan has Polish neighbours and through creation of such unusual, contemporary play version he wanted to learn more about the Poles, their traditions and culture.

The English part of a play, the Capulet house, is already successfully cast. Yet, currently the Shakespeare Company is looking for amateur Polish bi-lingual actors who will play the members of Montague family including Romeo, Benvolio, Balthasar, Montague and few others.

First rehearsals are planned for February and the premiere of bi-lingual “Romeo and Juliet” is scheduled for May 12, 2012.
