Polish literature Nobel prize winner dies

Wislawa Szymborska, the literature Nobel Prize winner, an outstanding personality of contemporary Poland, a prominent poet, columnist, essayist, translator and literary critic died yesterday, 1 February 2012, in Krakow, in her sleep.
Wislawa Szymborska was born in 1923 on Prowencie (now Kórnik, Poland), but spent most of her life in Krakow. She made her debut in 1952 with poems “Dlatego żyjemy” ("That's why we live"). In 1996 she was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature. Szymborska defined herself as typical skeptic. Her readers appreciated her for extraordinary wisdom, humor and ironic approach to reality.
The last poems entitled “Tutaj” ("Here") was released in 2009. Szymborska's books have been translated into 42 languages.
