Polish artist Agata Olesiak, known under the name Olek, creates her sculptures on the hook. Through her works she wants to give additional colour and energy to the world. She wants to reach the viewers in a unique, surprising way.
Currently Olesiak project can be seen in London in Tony's Gallery which is also her first solo exhibition in the UK. For six years she was living on the top floor of the gallery and was totally devoted to her crochet art by creating "second skin" for objects that she has had collected in the room. The effect of her work is again extraordinary. Additionally, in front of the Gallery the car covered with the colourful yarn encourages the viewers to enter the Gallery.
Agata Olesiak is known in the world for her unusual art. Her exhibitions took place in the United States, Brazil, Italy (Biennale, Venice), Germany and of course in Poland. Her works can be admired not only in galleries but also in public spaces worldwide which Olesiak often decorates with her crotchet art. The artist admits that street art gives her special opportunity to commune with the audience.
The London exhibition of Agata Olesiak titled "I do not expect to be a mother but I expect to die alone" will run to March 23, 2012. The entrance to the exhibition is free.
