Kula.gov.pl in Chinese
Web Portal Kula.gov.pl
After more than a year of sinologists’, lectors’ and web designers’ work, Polish Embassy in Beijing in cooperation with Polish MFA Internet Division, has prepared Chinese version of the innovative web portal www.kula.gov.pl which promotes knowledge about
Poland amongst the youngest internet users.
Chinese language version was officially launched December 20, 2011 by the Polish Presidents’ wife Mrs. Anna Komorowska in Beijing’s Primary School of Pedagogical University which is a friend institution of Polish Embassy. The premiere of Chinese version was held during the official visit of Polish President Bronisław Komorowski in the People’s Republic of China.
There are two characters in Chinese version of the website: a boy named Bobo and a girl named Lanlan. Combining their names, that is Bo(bo) and Lan(lan), denotes “Poland” in Chinese language. Both characters are familiarising the youngest Chinese (circa 300 million children) with Polish history and culture. The website offers an on-line sightseeing of various places in Poland, e.g. Cracow, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Zelazowa Wola and Zakopane. Throughout the web portal children can find 52 games, jigsaws, animations, colouring books, fairy tales and legends. Kula.gov.pl was created mainly for internet users between the ages of 5 to 9 years.
The Chinese language version of Kula.gov.pl is the second foreign adaptation of the portal after the English one. Worth highlighting is that Kula.gov.pl is the result of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage cooperation in the field of creating and empowering the positive image of Poland in the world.
