First weekend of July, Golub-Dobrzyń
Everyone who wants to travel in time and experience the atmosphere of medieval tournaments should visit Golub-Dobrzyń in Kujawsko-Pomorskie Voivodeship. The tournaments known in the entire Europe are organized by the Knight Guild, whose members reconstructed the medieval Knight Code that during the tournament is binding for all the participants.
It all started in 1977 when a first modern knight tournament in Poland and Europe was organized at Golub Castle.
From that time on, in the first weekend of July, knights on horseback, archers, ladies, squires and servants, as well as goats and poultry in cages, all come to the Teutonic Order stronghold by the Drwęca River. The participants are knights from the entire Europe as well as enthusiasts of medieval games – like shooting a bow, minting coins – or of historical costumes.
The hot atmosphere of these days make everybody feel in the centre of interesting events from many centuries ago.
