Jerzy Panek (1918-2001) - graphic artist and painter. For most of his life he practised wood carving. He made about 500 graphic works. He was inspired by folk art, for example, in 'Self-portrait in a white hat' or 'Golub Castle'. In the latter part of his life he made chalk-and-ink drawings, mainly self-portraits. Jerzy Panek received a number of rewards and honours, for example, a gold medal of the Triennale of Modern Art in New Delhi (1971).), Jan Cybis Prize (1986) and the prize from the City of Cracow for his overall artistic achievements (1998).
