Franciszek Starowieyski (1930-2009) - graphic artist, painter, scenographer; also uses the pseudonym Jan Byk. His work is characterised by its richly ornamental brush-strokes, and his favourite motifs are the passing of time, death, and the horizons of civilisation. He also makes theatre and film posters, for example for 'The Ides of March,' 'Illumination' and 'Family Life.' He was granted the Prize of the Ministry of Culture in the field of graphic arts in 2004.
