The Milestones

The Milestones is the theme of 2011 edition of the EHD in Poland, which are going to focus on contribution of Poland to the development of Europe throughout the history. The milestones such as Congress of Gniezno, Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Confederation of Warsaw, the Vienna relief, or the Constitution of 3 May are our bricks in building common Europe. We want to emphasize this contribution with a special exhibition which perfectly suits to this year EHD celebration. We are planning it's official inauguration during the 4th European Heritage Forum which is going to be held in Wroclaw in the middle of October.

We want to make the society interested in the most important events of Polish history, recall dates, places, artists and traditions and their association with tangible and intangible culture. We hope that, like in previous years, thanks to ingeniousness and efforts of the organizers, participants of the EHD will appreciate and learn about history and monuments of the region, and will also have the opportunity to reflect on the meaning of historical events at the local level and their relations to the history of the world.

In 2011 the European Heritage Days in Poland are going to be organized during two September weekends 10th -11th and 17th -18th. Nationwide launch will take place on Ostrow Lednicki – our Polish milestone, which is the early medieval castle associated with the reign of the first rulers of the Polish Piast dynasty, Mieszko I and Boleslaw Chrobry.
