Eagles for best Polish films

Polish Film Awards called "Orły" (in English "Eagles") are presented by the Polish Film Academy since 1999. This award is equivalent to the national film academies awards such as French César Awards, Czech Lions (Czech: Český lev), English BAFTAs, Spanish Goyas, and in Europe - European Film Awards. Additional award will be granted by the audience.
Till 31st January in Warsaw’s “Luna” cinema the review of candidate-films to the 14th edition of Eagles will be held. Overview includes films that have premiered in 2011 and have met the rules of Polish Film Awards.
41 films nominated for the award will be shown; among others: "In Darkness" by Agnieszka Holland (Polish candidate for an Oscar), "Girls are different" ("Baby są jakieś inne") by Marek Koterski, "Suicide Hall" ("Sala samobójców") by Jan Komasa, "Rose" ("Róża") by Wojciech Smarzowski, "Tomorrow will be better" ("Jutro będzie lepiej") by Dorota Kędzierzawska, "Daas " by Adrian Panek, "Ki" by Leszek Dawid, "Lynching" ("Lincz") by Krzysztof Łukaszewicz, "Mole" ("Kret") by Rafael Lewandowski, "Wymyk" by Greg Zglińskiego, "80 millions" ("80 milionów") by Waldemar Krzystek, "Black Thursday. Janek Wisniewski fell" ("Czarny czwartek. Janek Wiśniewski padł") by Antoni Krauze and "Mill and the Cross" ("Młyn i krzyż") by Lech J. Majewski.
Overview gives the chance to make an overall summary of Polish cinema in 2011.
February 29, 2012 the Life Achievement Award will be presented. The presentation of the Eagles in other categories will be held on March 5, 2012.
