Chabówka Rolling-Stock Heritage Park

Show poland.gov.pl - turystyka on a bigger map

The Chabówka Rolling-Stock Heritage Park is the oldest and most frequently visited railway museum in Poland.

The engine depot in Chabówka was founded in the late 19th century. In its heyday, up to 80 steam engines were stationed here.

Today, the museum’s permanent exhibition presents steam engines, electric engines and diesel engines, as well as special-purpose rolling stock such as rail-mounted cranes or snowploughs. A real rarity, not only for connoisseurs, is a steam engine of 1878. Other popular attractions include passenger cars of the Emperor Franz Joseph’s era, saloon cars of 20th-century dignitaries, or rail ploughs.
Many of the museum’s exhibits are still operational. Vintage trains play in movies or serve those tourists who wish to experience a sentimental journey, for instance on the Chabówka-Nowy Sącz or Chabówka-Zakopane line.
