Polish marathons
In Poland, there are many sports events where everybody can participate and feel as a great sportsman. Mum and dad, grandma and grandpa, brother and sister – everybody have an opportunity to try the spirit of competition and fight for highest trophies. That’s what the family sports events are organized for. They include such initiatives as Polska Biega action (Poland Runs) and mass marathons, half marathons, cross-country runs, relay races – in Warsaw, Poznań, Wrocław, Łódź, Żywiec, Częstochowa and many other locations.
Apparently, those who ran in one of the Polish marathons never willingly give up their next participations. Perhaps you will become a fan of this sport?

International Sports Events
Large international sports events always attract attention of sports enthusiasts. Similarly to other countries, also in Poland they cause the biggest emotions of supporters and interest of organizers. In the following years, Poland will be a host of several prestigious events in popular sports disciplines.
At the end of August 2009, Senior World Rowing Championships will take place at Poznań Malta lake. Together with Poland, 8 leading crews will fight for medals: Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, United Kingdom, United States of America, and Italy.
At the beginning of September finals of 36th European Basketball Championships will be played. EuroBasket 2009 (the official name of the tournament) will visit Bydgoszcz, Gdańsk, Katowice, Łódź, Poznań, Warszawa and Wrocław. 16 teams will participate in the fight for European Championships title, including Poland, Spain, Lithuania, Greece, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Serbia, Latvia, Turkey, United Kingdom, Bulgaria, Israel, Macedonia and a team selected in play-off eliminations.
Before the supporters can count the medals for Polish rowers and cool down after the success of the basketball team, they will be able to watch matches of the best European female volleyball players. The best teams will participate in the Women's European Volleyball Championships: Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Belorussia, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Spain, Holland, Germany, Poland, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Turkey and Italy. The volleyball players will compete in Łódź, Katowice, Wrocław and Bydgoszcz.
Preparations are under way for huge football celebration which will take place in 2012 on football pitches in Poland and Ukraine. It is of course, EURO 2012. The Polish supporters have significant hopes related to this most important event in the history of the Polish football. Will the Polish footballers meet the expectations of the supporters? The time will tell.
Less than two years later, the Polish supporters will have an opportunity to watch live another big sports event. At this time, 24 teams selected in eliminations will compete for the title of Men’s Volleyball World Championship (2014).
