Bieszczady Choo-Choo Train

Bieszczady’s delightful narrow-gauge mountain train is an unusual technological relic. The choo-choo, which has been in service for more than 100 years, offers a real wild life experience. During the ride, you may see from the windows of its tiny cars some of Poland’s finest landscapes: vast mountain pastures typical for the East Carpathians (polonina), old bulky trees or, if you are lucky, some of the Bieszczady’s animals.

The train line was built in 1898. It was used for transportation of passengers, goods and timber. Nowadays it is only used by exhausted hikers in search of picturesque mountain views.
The main route of the train leads from Majdan via Cisna to Przysłup, with a marvellous view of the surroundings. From there, you may see the highest pastures and the borderline range which connects Poland, Slovakia and Ukraine, as well as the protected areas of the Bieszczady National Park (Bieszczadzki Park Narodowy).

A trip through places almost completely cut off from the world, where the train’s rail is the sole sign of the civilization, are a source of unforgettable experience. The passengers may request the crew to stop the train at any place on the route. If you wish to feel a prickle of excitement, you may request a train robbery by a mounted bunch of six thugs lead by Krzych.
