Białowieża National Park is the only Polish nature site on the UNESCO list. In 1992, UNESCO extended the Park borders to the adjacent area – Belovezhskaya Pushcha in Belarus – creating a trans-border World Heritage Site.
Białowieża Forest is the last remaining natural forest ecosystem in Europe, with an abundance of flora and fauna unmatched anywhere else. The Forest is inhabited by wolves, lynx, otters, and the biggest European mammals – European Bison. The average age of trees in the Forest is 126 years.
