Picnic Country (July-August)

In the middle of the summer, a small town by the Czos Lake fills up with country stars and tourists looking for cowboy adventure. Country music artists from around the world – USA, United Kingdom, Ireland, Czech Republic, Hungary – give concerts at the festival stage. Thousands fans unanimously claim that Picnic Country in Mrągowo is great fun in family atmosphere, with good music and numerous attractions.

Beskid Culture Week (August)

Beskid Culture Week has been organized for more than 40 years and counts among the oldest folk events in Poland and in Europe.

International Chess Festival (August)

For dozens of years, in a picturesque, health resort in Kłodzko area, one of the oldest International Chess Festival in Europe has been held in the memory of Akiba Rubinstein (1882-1962) – the greatest Polish chess player. Every year in August, Polanica Zdrój becomes the chess capital of Poland.

International Chopin Piano Festival (August)

August, Duszniki-Zdrój

Popularity of Duszniki Zdrój is related to Frederick Chopin. One of the most famous composers in the world was 16 when, in August 1826, he came to Duszniki to treat his lung disease. The treatment including mineral water, goat’s milk, and, most of all, the local climate, worked as planned. Chopin played here two concerts, the income from which was donated to children orphaned by one of the patients.

Saint Dominic’s Fair (August)

August, Gdańsk

For 750 years, on Saint Dominic Day Gdańsk’s Main Town sees the biggest street trading and entertainment event in Poland, one of the biggest events of this type in Europe. Just like in the Middle Ages, street trading is accompanied by great entertainment. For 23 August days, the Market Square and its neighbourhood host interesting events and attractions: festivals of brass bands, street theatres, dancing shows, fireworks displays. There is a great atmosphere of street trading and fun.

The Bison’s Day (August)

In 2011 the Bison’s Day will be celebrated for the fifth time in the village Lutowiska in Bieszczady Mountains. It is a great opportunity for visiting this still uncharted region of Poland, learning more about the king of wilderness and taking part in many attractions.

Tour de Pologne (August-September)

Tour de Pologne is the biggest sport event in Poland. The cycling race held every year visits 400 cities and towns. Over two million fans support cyclists along the route of the cycling race. Tour de Pologne is on the prestigious list of over twenty the most important cycling events in the world, next to such famous races as Tour de France or Giro d’Italia. The race manager is Czesław Lang, an outstanding Polish cyclist, the winner of Tour de Pologne in 1980.
