4000-mile walk to freedom shot by Peter Weir
The actual story of a Polish soldier Witold Gliński who escaped from a Gulag in Siberia in 1940 serves as a plot of the new Peter Weir’s film "The Way Back". The film premiered on December 26 in British cinemas.
Based on a memoir by Polish author Sławomir Rawicz titled "The Long Walk", the film tells a story of a group of refugees led by a Pole named Janusz who escape together from a Siberian gulag in 1940. It portrays their 4000-mile hostile terrain walk to freedom in India across borders, deserts, mountains. Featuring breathtaking turns and a strong cast, including Colin Farrell and Ed Harris, it is said to be one of the most visually stunning films of the year.
